A clown from this past weekend’s Creston Rodeo has made national headlines for telling an offensive joke about First Lady Michelle Obama. Good thing is the offender wasn’t actually from the Central Coast. But he sure is making us look bad!

  1. Here’s his contractually obligated apology:
Meantime, Hayhurst apologized in the following statement sent to the board of directors:
“Thanks to the Founders and defenders of our great nation, we are afforded our free speech rights. With those rights comes responsibility. At the Creston Classic Rodeo on Saturday, September 15, 2012, I irresponsibly told a joke that many people found offensive and I apologize. This was a joke I read in 2010 and chose to recycle it during this election season. I simply substituted Ann Romney’s name where the original joke used Sarah Palin’s name. While no apology will satisfy everyone, I hope those of you in the Creston area with whom I have had a 15 plus year relationship will accept mine. I wish all of you much future success with the Creston Classic Rodeo.”
Notice that he mentioned both Ann Romney and Sarah Palin, but didn’t actually address the woman he insulted, Michelle Obama. That’s because it was about Michelle in 2010 as well. And just as racist back then as it is today.
I think Adam and Cheeba, as a public service, should ask the rodeo clown to come on the radio and apologize for the other two semi-racist bad jokes he told along with this one that the Tribune had the temerity to print twice.
